You Like the East Coast?

So how about living here? Would you come visit every now and then? A few weeks ago, I received an e-mail from Brandi that had a link to the Capital Group employment search page. For those who don't know, Capital Group is the parent company for American Funds. Over the last two years with Primerica I have become very familiar with and fond of this fund company. They have great historic returns through all economic climates relative to their benchmark indices. This is accomplished by having very low holdings turnover and extremely low yearly expense and 12b-1 fees. Nevertheless I got this e-mail and started playing around with the idea of applying for a Rep Liason position. The job, as I understand it, would basically entail giving support to regional sales representatives that work for brokerage houses and firms like Goldman Sachs (GS) and Merril Lynch (MER). Also, I would get to keep my ties with PFS. American Funds is an out of house fund company for Primerica Shareholder Services, so I would be dealing with them on the corporate level, but also on the rep level.

So anyway, after some love filled nagging by Brandi and some support from the angels on my right shoulder, I decided to submit the resume to a few different positions to American Funds, as well as Legg Mason. The one I am hoping to get is in Norfolk, VA with American Funds. I wouldn't mind getting a call from Legg Mason though. The position is in Hartford, CT and it is for a PFS Liason position (LM is an in house fund for PFS).

As it turns out, I should have listened to Brandi a long time ago. Did anyone just hear that? It was a feminine voice saying "I TOLD YOU SO!" Don't gloat sweetheart. Today I got an e-mail from one of the HR people at American, and they would like to interview me! The first interview will be on the phone. I imagine that if I do well it will eventually lead to a personal interview out in VA. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Breathe deep... baby steps Bob. The phone interview is tomorrow in the afternoon. I will keep you updated.
